Elliot Sharp and the Boodlers

Elliot Sharp approached Fred Chaelenor and Henry Franzoni in 1994 asking them if they would like to form a trio named The Boodlers, they immediately agreed, (they had originally met in NYC in 1983). The Boodlers recorded a CD named "Boodlers" in New York City which was released on Cavity Search Records,

They played a couple of gigs, and recorded another CD for Tim/Kerr Records named Counter Fit
Counter Fitwhich was released in 1996. Joe Trump, the drummer of Carbon and many other NYC bands, not to mention the drummer for King Black Acid, joined Henry on drums for the second Boodlers CD. Double the drums. The Boodlers played their most recent gigs in Portland, OR at the Doug Fir and at the Dunes in July 2005. They began recording a new CD at the same time.

"Boodlers" is an old term for counterfeiters, and the the two CDs were recorded in one take; Elliot added some overdubs and did some post processing. The songs titles and the Cover Art and the concept were all about counterfeiting... "counterfeit" music if you will... the opposite of authentic, I.E. fraudulent, fake, and an ironic twist is that that the first Boodlers CD actually made a little money that got into the band's hands.
